Children are curious.

"It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education."

- Albert Einstein

My goal as an early childhood educator is to allow children to freely explore and support the cultivation of lifelong curiosity through play.

Children are creative.

"To live a creative life we must forget our fear of being wrong."

-Joseph Chilton Pearce

Children are innately creative. They find uses for items and experiences adults can no longer see because of the conditioning and lived experiences we have had. Children are unafraid to risk being wrong - in fact, they must work through trial and error daily to learn to walk, speak, ride a bike, read, etc.  Children are born without a preconceived notion about the way our world works. They find new and innovative ways of experiencing and exploring their environment daily. In my practice, I work to protect children's sense of risk because it is through risk children learn to grow and find where their boundaries lie.

Children are capable.

"Never help a child with a task that he feels he can succeed."

-Maria Montessori

Children have a hunger for autonomy and independence when supported and scaffolded with age-appropriate guidance. A child feels pride when they can complete a task "all by themselves." I work to support children on their journey to independence, one small choice at a time.
